Director 7.0 : Authorware 4 : Freehand : Toolkit : DirectLoops

The Director 7 Shockwave Internet Studio is the standard for creating and delivering powerful multimedia for the Internet, CD-ROMs, and DVD-ROMs. Rather than serving simple graphics and text, Director unleashes your creativity with the only tools powerful enough to combine graphics, sound, animation, text, and video into compelling content.

Immediate
Director 7 Shockwave Internet Studio delivers results with an optimized playback engine for smooth, fast multimedia performance. Director's easy-to-use visual metaphor helps you turn around multimedia in Internet time.
Immersive
Engage your audience with incredible visual effects and real-time animation. Director 7 provides rich interactivity with graphics, sound, text, video, and more.
Internet
Director is the tool used to create Shockwave content. Seen on thousands and thousands of Web sites, Shockwave is the Internet's high-speed, low-bandwith engine for multimedia. Director's authoring environment is Internet-optimized with
support for Internet standards like Java, HTTPS, XML, and more.

Optimized playback engine
Director's playback engine has been optimized to produce
professional-quality animations and stunning playback.
Improvements include a reduction in projector startup time,
increased reliability, and improved consistency.
Library palette
The library palette speeds programming by providing a central location for the most frequently used behaviors and assets. This fully customizable behavior and asset manager stores elements that can be shared across multiple projects.
Lingo enhancements
Lingo, Director's object-oriented scripting language, has been enhanced to provide more control over Internet connectivity, vector shapes, scaling and rotation, and alpha channels.
Visual development metaphor
The Director authoring metaphor is based on movie production, complete with a cast (1), stage (2), and score (3). Import media into the cast window, and then place cast members onto the stage. The Score controls the sequence of your presentation.
Dynamic alpha channels
Director imports high-quality graphics with alpha channels. Once imported, the graphic or alpha channel can be controlled to create real-time animation and effects that provide truly compelling content.
Real sprite effects
Full 360-degree rotation, horizontal/vertical flipping, and scalable skewing add real-time animation to your movies. No duplication in effort is necessary to create incredible effects with bitmaps, Flash 3, QuickTime 3, or text.
Save as Java
Director 7 delivers Web content via Shockwave or Java. The powerful "Save as Java" feature allows Director developers to create pure Java applets without learning the Java programming language, thereby making Director one of the simplest visual Java development environments available. Save as Java output makes Director an ideal choice for creating interactive ad banners, animated UI elements, and compelling multimedia interactivity. Save as Java output delivers to a wide range of platforms.
Internet protocol support
New standard Internet protocol support delivers rich, interactive content anywhere on the Web. Integrate existing content with HTML, distribute media anywhere with HTTP, create Web based e-commerce applications with secure transactions (HTTPS), integrate two-way communication (CGI Post), and leverage standard data exchange with new XML parsing.
